Do you feel like there’s not enough time in the day? Do you sometimes feel overwhelmed? Yoga can help! The benefits of yoga are literally mind boggling and can be felt from just a 40 MINUTE PRACTICE…AND… can be done anywhere at any time. Yoga invites you to live in the present moment, gives you mental strength and clarity and provides the positive energy you need to tackle your goals.
Whilst Yoga is based on tradition, it is also an evidence-based practice which draws on the skills and knowledge of modern medicine. With a growing body of research proving yoga’s healing benefits, it’s no wonder doctors, including those with traditional Western training, are now prescribing this ancient practice to their patients. A report published in the June 2015 issue of the Journal of Neuroscience Nursing saw yoga participants in the study gain MEMORY PERFORMANCE and IMPROVEMENT IN COGNITIVE FUNCTION. Yet another report presented at the Anxiety and Depression Association of America (ADAA) Conference 2015 in April linked yoga to lowering levels of cortisol, the stress hormone. In the study of 52 women, ages 25 to 45, who had mildly elevated anxiety, moderate depression or high stress, those who performed yoga twice a week felt better (MOOD IMPROVED), looked better (LOST WEIGHT), and had better control over their anxiety.
The health care world’s increased acceptance of yoga therapy is partly due to a significant body of clinical research that now documents yoga’s proven benefits for a range of health conditions, including back pain, anxiety, depression, and insomnia, as well as its ability to help reduce risk factors for cardiovascular disease and hypertension. Yoga has even been documented as a way to alleviate the side effects of cancer treatment. One of the wonderful things about yoga is that the poses can be modified to meet the needs of the practitioner. Our classes are appropriate for ALL LEVELS, from the complete beginner to the more experienced. The instructors at Boom Boom Yoga are creative, positive and supportive and use modifications for those suffering injuries or those managing disease, disability or other physical challenges. We know that the beauty of yoga lies not in perfection but in the unique expression that each person demonstrates as they breathe and move in a pose.
